Murat Burhanoğlu, born in Istanbul (1987) and based in Amsterdam, is a painter whose practice revolves around monochromatic landscapes and the gestures of entities and animals that inhabit our world. His visual language draws on archaic rawness, ruins, and palaces.
Artist’s first solo exhibition, Black Sun (2019), and his second, Order of the House (2023), were both within Ambidexter Gallery. His paintings are featured annually at major art fairs such as Contemporary Istanbul, Akaretler Artweeks, Artshow Istanbul. Murat’s works have been included in group exhibitions in Istanbul, Izmir and Chios, Greece. Also in 2025, the artist has exhibited with a solo show at MENART Fair in Paris.
Having held exhibitions mostly along the Aegean coast, he draws his artistic inspiration from the same geography, the sea, the light and the mythology.
